Medical Destinations

International-Triage provides you with access to high-quality medical treatment in participating facilities in various countries. We specialize in managing emergency and scheduled hospital-based major medical cases. Medical complexity is rated by the specific clinical needs of the patient’s primary medical status and complicating factors, known as “secondary conditions”. Cases are triaged (assigned) to hospitals and physicians based their ability to effectively treat the medical condition of each case. Treatment capability is a combination of physician and/or surgeon skills, hospital infrastructure, equipment and capabilities of the nursing and other clinical support staff.

International-Triage Hospital Consortium operates in the following countries:

Colombia
Costa Rica
Dominican Republic
Panama

Although patient choice regarding the destination of service plays a big role in selecting the ultimate facility, it is important to recognize that medical infrastructure and expertise vary from country to country. For example, a patient may want to have a quadruple cardiac bypass surgery in a country whose healthcare system is better suited for less complicated medical treatment. In reviewing the medical complexity of the case, our team of experts will advise the patient and the insurance company about a more suitable medical destination to perform the requested medical treatment. In general, we recommend that the most complex medical cases take place in Colombia, Chile, or Argentina. Lesser complexity cases can be performed in Panama, Costa Rica, and the Dominican Republic.

Additionally, International-Triage is responsive to charity care needs of children with cardiac anamolies. To help families in need, we have specially priced charity care providers who are standing by to assist those children who require up to intermediate complexity surgery.

Understanding Treatment Capabilities:

The capability of hospitals to provide medical care is divided into three categories or treatment levels.

Acute Care:
Simple to intermediate treatment capabilities / surgical procedures with minimal risk of complication. Limited sub-specialties and intensive care capabilities.

Tertiary Care:
Comprehensive sub-specialties with broad spectrum of clinical expertise. Ability to treat complex medical and surgical cases. Robust intensive care capabilities.

Quaternary Care:
Super specialized expertise, such as trauma, transplantation and state of the art protocols.

These service categories are based on the availability of medical specialists, medical support staff such as nurses and technicians, medical equipment, and facilities. For example, the ability to perform cardiac surgery is based on an integrated team of cardiologists and cardiac surgeons who have infrastructure in the form of suitable operating theatres, suitable intensive care units, specialty lab and diagnostic services, and support staff which is able to work with them to ensure medical management of the patients. International-Triage selects hospitals after rigorous interviews with the chief of clinical service and in-depth side visits. Each facility must complete a detailed application where all information related to quality measures and management is disclosed to our company in great detail in every clinical service that participates in our program.

I have read and understood the information and I am ready to proceed.
